The ACen Game 2 Character Generation Rules/House Rules ------------------------------------------------------ Updated 2/15/05 Subject to change. We'll let you know when it does. Character Generation: We'll be using Tri-Stat d6. Both original characters and conversions of existing characters will be accepted. It's your choice. However, characters should be human, or at least human in appearance, as this game does take place on Earth. You get 50 CP and 30 SP. Use the varying stat costs (Table 2-2 on page 8) for the three primary stats, and use the Modern Day Occult/Horror skillset for SP costs (Table 4-3a on page 42). (If you're having trouble calculating your stat values, a handy reference table can be found here: http://ciara.sandwich.net/acengame2/stats.txt) No more than 8 BP from defects will be allowed. We will award 1-3 CP for a good background (although to get 3 CP, it really has to be a darned good background), and 1 CP for character art. Please note that we will award 3 CP total maximum, so you can get 3 from the background, or 2 from the background and 1 from artwork, but not 4 from a background and artwork. ***** Attribute/Defect/Skill Changes: The following attributes and defects will use the modified dX rules. These can be found at found at http://besm.sandwich.net/dX/ Modified Attributes: Armor, Divine Relationship, Heightened Awareness, Insubstantial, Invisibility, Massive Damage, Mind Control, Servant, SAWA (Simplified), Telepathy, Teleport New Attributes: Appearance, Mental Defense, Physical Conditioning, Spiritual Resistance New/Modified Defects: Burns Energy, Inept Attack, Inept Defense, Less Capable, Reoccuring Nightmares Gadgets/Personal Gear costs 1 point/level for four minor items only and no major item, or one major item only and no minors. Sixth Sense comes with two Ranks of Area (1m) for free. The Less Capable defect will give a +2 penalty to the appropriate Major Aspect and a +4 penalty to the appropriate Minor Aspect, rather than +3/+6 respectively. The Power Usage Skill: Attribute one takes 4 SP/level. Attribute two takes 2 SP/level. Three and further takes 1 SP/level. If you want to, instead, get them all, you can just take it at 8 SP/level for all of them. No specialty. If you're taking it for separate skills, the highest level skill must be the 4 SP/level one, and the second-highest the 2 SP/level one. No taking one level at 4 SP and five at 2 SP. Combat Skills will use the RSP system, where you buy skill for a particular weapon, not a group of weapons. ***** The following attributes and defects will not be allowed. Unusable Attributes: Agents/Henchmen, OBM, Features(Appearance), Mind Shield - the latter two are replaced by the new attributes Unusable Defects: Famous, Wanted, Nemesis, Marked Unusable Skills: Heavy Weapons ***** Other Rule Changes: We are not using the Variable Damage rules, nor are we using Shock Value.
