Hi! Hello. You're Nic, right? Nice to meet you. * Penny holds her hand out. Welcome! *shakes it* * Zegon waves. * Penny waves with her other hand to Kate and Kevin. "Thanks! Arwen's sending my sheet again. She put more stuff in for me to carry." Where do you keep it all? (And now I start looking for my brother, as he's the Kevin I always associate with hearing "Kate and Kevin." ;p) * Penny blinks at Nic, not that it's easy to tell with the mirror shades. "In my backpack and pockets. Duh." Said sheet has not arrived yet, but you want to get started in the meantime? Good answer. Ah, there's the sheet. Okay. Yay! Well, before we begin, we have a few questions for you. * Penny nods and has a seat on the chair. * Penny folds her hands and looks at the GMs. What is your name? (What is your quest? What is your favourite colour?) (We're getting to that. Dead serious. ;p) Penelope Carmichael-Andrews. But you can call me Penny. Everyone does, except Mom when she gets angry at me. What is your quest? * Penny pauses, then adds, "And Dad, but he doesn't get an- huh? Uh..." * Penny thinks about that. I don't... have one? Go on. Well, I'm in school. I like having fun. My grades are okay, but that's not very quest-like, except my parents will *totally* sanatize me if I fail or something. And I, like, live with them, so that's kinda important. I always thought quests are for later, when you're grown up, and stuff. Like 'work'. (Not if you're an RPG protagonist!) (Shush.) (If I'm an RPG protagonist, why aren't I a master swordswoman?) What is your favorite color? Green. So are you ready? Well, uh, that depends. What are you asking if I'm ready for? [This.] [Incoming Brackets of Description!] [May 13, 2005.] [When you went to bed last night, everything was normal. Familiar. Now, for whatever reason, you've woken up, and while the room is dark, you get the distinct impression that something's wrong.] [ACenGame 2, Intro Session 5 Start!] * Penny 's eyes fly open, and she blinks a couple of times. Her hands spread to either side, feeling the mattress, and then she sits up, trying to look around. [It's still pretty dark. And the bed feels strange. Fairly big, for one thing.] * Penny tries to let her eyes adjust. She hesitantly feels in one direction, trying to silently find the end of the giant bed of !death, since hopefully she isn't dead. [You don't *feel* dead. Although that doesn't necessarily mean anything. You find the edge soon enough. It feels rather like a king-sized bed. And unless you sleep in one at home, now you *know* something's wrong.] (Does she have a comparison point for what being dead *does* feel like?) (Wait, come to think, either or both of her parents may have described it for her.) (Quite possibly, yes.) ( I've shrunk!) * Penny swallows, but she silently tells herself not to panic, and carefully slips off the bed and onto the floor. Or, if there is no floor, she stops the slipping. [Your feet hit the floor. It's carpeted.] * Penny takes a few hesitant steps, still trying to keep quiet. Okay, this is so not the same carpet as the stuff at home. (Are you holding your hand out in front of you?) (One hand, yes.) [After taking a few steps, your hand touches a wall. Feels like wallpaper.] (I'm being called downstairs. Sec.) (Okay.) (I can't believe you really did the MP joke. I was JOKING.) (^_^) (^____________^) (Did you really do that for everyone?) (Back!) (Answering in /msg. ;p) (Sore wa.) (And you have found wallpaper.) * Penny pulls her hand back, pauses and listens for a moment, then places it against the wall again. She starts walking to her left, trailing her hand along the wall as she goes and placing her other hand in front of her in case of furniture. [You don't hear anything odd. Or anything at all. After a few more steps, your hand touches a lightswitch.] * Penny grins a little and takes a breath, then closes her eyes before flipping the switch. [Lights go on!] * Penny opens her eyes slowly, letting them adjsut, then looks around the room. And now she can be seen, too! [You are *definitely* not where you were when you went to sleep. (more)] [The room is green. The room is very green. The wallpaper is green. The bedspread is green. The bedframe is green. There are green chairs and a green table and a television on a green stand. And green curtains covering what you'd assume are large picture windows.] [There is a green door leading to what is probably the bathroom.] [In short, you are in a very green hotel room.] ( It's... green.) (Is it a green television? Does it play Kermit singing if you turn it on?) [The television is, sadly, black.] (Noooooo!) [It's not easy being green, after all.] * Penny is a small teenaged girl, with rather long, straight black hair, soul-sucking, slightly tilted gray eyes (okay, not *that* soul- sucking), and fair skin. She's wearing dark green pajamas: a short- sleeved shirt and shorts, with little alarm clock prints on them. She matches the room! * Penny looks around, and she finally speaks! She says, very quietly, "O... kay." (She does. She was prepared for this! Because she's... her.) [There's also a green dresser, and sitting next to it is your backpack.] (Is it... green?) (Penny has a black backpack with green highlights, so... yes?) * Penny heads for her backpack! She opens it, quietly!, and looks inside. [Everything that you'd expect to find in it is there.] * Penny spends a long time going through her backpack, then. (Two hours later...) * Penny actually doesn't. She checks it as quickly as she can, then zips it closed and picks it up, putting it on her shoulders. She starts looking through the dresser, opening each drawer and peeking inside. [Inside are your clothes! Well, some of them, anyway. About as much as you'd pack to go on a two or three-day trip.] * Penny pulls the first one open a crack, peeking in from the side, and... sees her clothes? Huh. (Or are they alien shapeshifters *pretending* to be her clothes? She remembers one story her dad told her...) [Yep, they look like your clothes. Whether or not you believe they are is a different story.] (Burn them just to be safe.) * Penny studies her own clothes for a moment before reaching into her backpack and pulling out a coat hanger. She edges it into the crack and pokes her clothes with it. [The clothes rise up and devour the hanger! ...no, actually, they just sit there and are poked.] * Penny pokes them a few more times, then sighs. "Okay, someone is totally sick, but at least they don't want me naked." Pause. "I think." She opens the drawer the rest of the way and pulls her clothes out, setting them on the floor to one side. [The drawer is empty once you have removed your clothes.] * Penny clothes the drawer! [Did you really mean to say that?] * Penny gives the next drawer the same treatment. Check from the side just in case anything decides to eat her or something. (Closes. No, I didn't. ^^;) [Nothing has decided to eat you, and you slowly remove all your clothes. You do not clothe the drawers. That would be silly.] (I dunno. If they'll eat me if I don't, I'll darn well clothe the drawers.) (Point. But a moot one. ;p) (So the other drawers had more clothes, or what?) (Yep, more clothes, etc. Basically enough clothes to last you for a couple of days.) * Penny glances down at her clothes, then she turns, double checking the room for things like cameras and such. (Give me an awareness roll. In #besm.) (Crit successed.) (Oh, and a -4 to that.) (So I made by... um... (She is her mother's daughter.) (Nine!) (She IS her mother's daughter.) (*dies laughing*) [There are no cameras. None whatsoever. And although you are never 100% sure about anything, because making assumptions like that goes against everything your parents ever taught you, you are as certain as you possibly can be that there are none.] * Penny checks. Then she doesn't seem to *believe* that, and she looks again, and then she sighs with something that may or may not be relief. (Are there any drawers in the nightstand?) (Yes. One large one.) * Penny goes to the nightstand and opens that drawer a crack, too, standing to one side and glancing in from the distance. [Inside is a Gideon Bible.] * Penny bites her lower lip and pokes *that* with the coat hanger. [It bursts into flames! ...no, it just sits there and is poked.] * Penny reaches in with her other hand and grabs it, then flips through it quickly. Maybe there's something between the pages! [Nope. Nothin' but Bible.] (She should analyze the text.) * Penny keeps the bible, then, putting it in her backpack. Heavens only knows if she's done this in every hotel she's been to. (That's where Krista gets all of hers.) (Darn right.) [You gain: Bible x1.] * Penny 's inventory grows, and Arwen will be sure to note this on her sheet for ACen. * Penny checks under the bed, again keeping her distance. (Bible x1!) (Is the bible hardcover or not?) [Yep, hardcover Bible.] [Under the bed is... nothing!] (Sweet! Potential weapon!) [Not even dust. At least they keep it clean here.] (*dies laughing* I will pay you money to see you clock someone with a Bible. ;p) (Serious? I'll bring a bible just to do it.) * Penny sneaks over to the windows and pulls open one of the curtains a touch, peeking out! [Outside, it is night! And you see... a desert.] (Not a dessert, sadly.) * Penny wrinkles her nose. She lets the curtain fall closed again and frowns. (You don't even have to bring a real one. ;p) (Yeah. No ice cream. ;_;) (Sad!) * Penny reaches into her backpack and pulls out... a cell phone! She dials home. (She gets Ben! Really!) [You get no reception.] (Incidentally, on the off chance you allow Penny here to...) (Never mind.) (Aww.) [Really, did you think it was going to be that easy?] (I didn't think you would.) (No, but it would've been funny.) * Penny tries a few other numbers, probably still getting nothing. [Your cellphone isn't getting any reception at all. No bars, no nothing.] ("Dominos. Half an hour or your pizza's free.") (Sweet! I'm in the green room at the hotel in the middle of the desert.) (We call it Hotel California.) * Penny closes her phone. "Yay." And she walks over to the bed, pulling the cover off. Are the sheets below them green, too? (It's a greenhouse.) (Ha ha... ha...) (And I'm baking!) [Yep. They're green. Kind of mint green instead of darker green, but they're green.] * Penny eyes the mint green sheets, then starts pulling *those* off of the bed. [Underneath is a mattress cover. It's white.] * Penny pulls that off, too. [Underneath is a mattress. It's green.] * Penny keeps the mattress cover. She folds it and puts it in her backpack. Don't ask how. (You can't really do that. It's huge. (It's for a king-sized mattress.) (Um... are you sure?) (I'm sure of the size.) (Hang on. Lemme consult.) (I have the Concealable thingie! It cost a point. Hoo hah.) (Okay, sure. You now have a king-sized mattress cover.) (Awesome.) (*adds to her inventory* * Penny goes to check out the television stand! She looks behind the TV, and under... well, if the stand has a drawer, she checks that, too. [The stand is a metal stand and does not have a drawer. Behind the TV is an outlet which the power cord is connected to.] * Penny turns on the TV. [Static. Weird.] * Penny channel surfs. [More static. Lame.] * Penny checks all of the channels! And probably just gets a lot of static. [Yep.] * Penny realizes she has to go to the bathroom, because who doesn't when they just wake up, and starts for the door. She takes a few steps, pauses, then sighs. She goes to her clothes and drops her backpack, taking a moment to change into a pair of black shorts and a green shirt. * Penny gets a bra while she's at it, because really, come on. (Lemme know when you open the bathroom door.) * Penny takes a moment to put on her watch, then. And socks. And sneakers. * Penny also quickly braids her hair. * Penny finishes with that, runs her hand over her hair, and stuffs her clothes and pajamas into her backpack. (The backpack doesn't look any more full than it was before!) * Penny puts her backpack back on and pulls her mirror shades out of her pocket. She puts them on, takes a breath, and says to herself, "Dad always told me there'd be days like these." * Penny walks to the bathroom door and opens it, mostly shielding herself with the door itself. [Inside is... a bathroom! Which is white, and contains the fairly standard toilet, tub with shower, sink, and mirror. The towels are green.] (Drawers and cabinets?) (None, actually.) (Ah, I forgot one of those water bottles in her inventory! She should have that. Can I retroactively add it?) (Sure.) (! Um, okay.) * Penny turns on the faucet. [You get water!] (AFK a sec.) * Penny studies the 'water' for a second, then reaches into her backpack and pulls out a notebook. She tears a sheet off, folds it, and sticks it under for a little bit before pulling it out and watching to see if it gets EATEN AWAY BY CORROSIVE ACID or something. (Back.) [It gets wet.] (But not eaten by corrosive acid?) [It gets wet. Nothing else happens.] * Penny sighs. Now she sticks a fingertip under the liquid, briefly, and pulls that away. She watches for a moment before touching her tongue to it. Now it BURNS! Or not. [It's water. Really. Swear to God.] (I dunno. The GM could be lying.) [Would I do that?] * Penny blinks, then goes through the trouble of taking out a water purifier (what does she *keep* in there?) and putting that under the faucet. She fills her water bottle this way. [You now have purified water. Yay!] (Also, if this needs to be paused, will you be available tomorrow?) * Penny screws the cap on the bottle, then purifies more water. And drinks it! Because not only does she need to go to the bathroom, she's thirsty. (Yes, though I'd rather it not need to. I'm willing to bet Penny's intro is taking extra long, though. ;P) (It is.) (And the GM does have work tomorrow, sadly.) * Penny hopefully doesn't die. Now she goes to the bathroom. And then, assuming she's successful, she takes a shower. Well, turning on the shower and watching the water run and checking it before stepping in, but yes. [You successfully take a shower. Yay.] * Penny is clean! [Go, you!] * Penny then goes through the trouble of drying off, getting dressed again, doing her hair again, and stealing dry towels, toilet paper, and those little hotel toiletries. (Congrats, you've earned a Make the GM Snerk Award.) (You're also not the first person to do it. ;p) (Number 4!) (Errr, I meant not the first person to take the hotel toiletries.) (Brain not entirely functioning. ^^;) (Oh. Yeah, that too.) (Everyone steals them?) (Free shower curtain!) (Am I the first person to, like, pee and take a shower?) (Dude, shower curtain! What's it look like?) (Not the first person to take a shower. And it's white, heavy cloth with a white vinyl liner.) * Penny works on detaching the curtain, then. * Penny stands on her toes to do it! ... And on the edge of the tub! (You *will* update your sheet after this is over. Also, note that the curtain is wet. You did just take a shower.) (Fine!) (I succeeded, yes?) (Yeah.) (And I'm the first one to go to the bathroom, so I win!) * Penny grabs another towel and starts drying off the inside of the curtain. [Intense curtain-drying action!] (Girl-on-curtain action!) * Penny folds that curtain. ... and puts it in her backpack. [Anything else?] (Nope!) * Penny shoulders her backpack again, makes sure her shades are on, and heads back into the room. [It is as you left it.] (Is there a door out?) [Yep! It's green. And interestingly enough, it's blank. No fire escape plans or room rates or anything. No peephole, either.] (Keyhole?) [Doorknob, sure.] (What about the keyhole?) [There is no keyhole. It's a doorknob.] (Crack under the door?) [Too small to look out under.] (Penny needs to feed her drug habit.) (I do!) (*snerk* #5!) (... Are you just snerking over and over this session?) (Nope, only two so far.) (I'm not a player.) * Penny goes to the door! She listens for a moment. (It's the Make the GM Snerk Award. It can be awarded to non- players.) [Penny hears nothing!] * Penny keeps listening! For a little bit. Then she tries to open the door, just a teeny little crack, and peek out. [Penny sees... a session pause! Because one of the GMs needs to sleep now.] [Intro Resume! Incoming description.] (We have movie sign!) [You peek out the door and see a hotel corridor. You also see... yourself? The opposite wall is mirrored from the waist up and green from the waist down. The carpet is a particularly LOUD shade of green. But it's nice and plush. If you look up, you'll see that the ceiling is also mirrored. The whole place is lit with a faint, ambient, and yes, slightly green light.] (I am so going to bring a bible to ACen.) (So I can literally beat people with the word of God!) [Your room number is 611, posted on the door with large gold letters.] (*dies*) [Proceed.] (Are there other doors to rooms, and what's at each end of the corridor?) * Penny looks at the mirror. And then up. And then around, taking note of everything. She doesn't step out just yet. (She just peered out the door. She won't really see more until she steps out. Geez, man, give me a freaking minute.) (Just askin'.) (And when you do step out, please give me a hearing roll in #besm.) (Nic: Have a little faith. ;p) (Spot count?) (Yes.) * Penny keeps looking, then slowly, hesitantly, steps out of the room. She looks ready to dart back in at any moment. (Made by seven.) (Pfft, yeah. ^_~) (What!) (Her. Mother's. Daughter.) [You hear a bell. It's deep and clear, like the kind you'd find at a church.] (Religion is a motif here.) (It's all about converting the heathens.) (Coming from where?) [The corridor curves slightly and extends far enough that you can't quite see either end. The entire opposite wall is mirrored, and there are doors on your side. And the bell seemed to eminate from all around you.] * Penny glances around, but she doesn't seem particularly alarmed by it. She closes the door softly behind her, then walks forward and presses her hand against the mirror she reaches. She looks at it from the side, checking to see if it's a one-way mirror or not. [The mirror is set slightly into the wall, so you can't tell.] (Does it curve toward the mirror side or the doors side?) (Sure you can.) (If her reflective hand is against her own, it's just reflective. If there's a little space between them, it's one way.) [It's just a mirror. And it curves a bit towrds the doors.] (Err, the hallway. Not the mirror. ;p) * Penny eyes the mirror, then turns her attention up. She frowns. It looks more like a pout, really. [A pouting Penny looks down at you.] * Penny turns, taking in the doors. They go in sequence? [All of them are numbered 611.] * Penny tilts her head slightly. She walks to the next door. (Is the hallway lit?) (Oh yes, it is.) (Sorry.) [Yep, room 611.] * Ciara is now known as Aaron * Penny steps up to her neighbor's door, sets a hand against the knob, and tries to open it a crack. ( Hello, I'll be your GM for this evening. ^_^) [The door is unlocked and thus does open a crack!] * Penny swallows and peeks in. [Inside, you see a room identical to the one you just left. Really identical. The covers have been taken off the bed like you did and everything.] * Penny squeaks and steps backwards, shutting the door quickly. She stares for a moment, then walks to the next one and gives that room the same treatment. [You find the same thing.] * Penny opens the door the rest of the way, then walks in, walking to the nightstand. She opens it. [It's empty. Sorry, you can only carry one Bible.] * Penny tilts her head again, then walks out into the hall, not closing this door. She checks the doors next to it. [You find the same thing.] (Also, next time you step out into the hall, give me a sight roll and a hearing roll.) (They're open?) (Oh, no. They're closed. Sorry. I misunderstood.) (You mean now, since I just did?) (If you aren't going to look in the next room, then yes.) (If you are, then after you look in.) (Well, it depends. She's going to try something.) * Penny walks to one of the rooms and opens that door! A next door room. [If you look in, it's the same as all the ones you've seen so far.] * Penny nods to herself. She takes a few steps back, then she unzips her backpack and pulls out a softball. * Penny tosses it in her hand a couple of times before tossing it into the doorway of the room next to her, immediately after putting her attention on the room in front of her. [The softball appears in the room in front of you.] * Penny blinks a few times. She walks in and retrieves it, then wanders back out, again closing the door behind her. (Now make those rolls, please.) (Sight by four and hearing by six.) (Oh, were you going left or right?) (Right, we'll say.) (Okay.) [Further up the corridor and to your right, you see a bright, shimmering light. And you hear voices coming from that direction. They seem to be singing something.] [You can't make out the words, though.] (Are they coming my way?) [Nope. They're not moving, or at least they don't seem to be getting louder or quieter.] (No doppler effect either.) * Penny glances away for a moment, but curiosity gets the better of her and she approaches. Quietly! And carefully. And very slowly. [The voices remain ahead of you, as does the light. You pass more doors marked 611.] [Eventually, you come to a set of double doors, which are green with a large, round, mirrored window in each.] * Penny looks at the voices, then the doors, then back. Well, evidently they're not going to get any closer any time soon, so... * Penny walks up to the doors. Once again, she gets her fingerprints on the mirrors as she checks them for one-wayness. [These ones appear to be one-way.] * Penny pulls her hand away with a jerk and glances up at the mirrored ceiling again. [Your reflection looks down at you.] * Penny takes a deep breath, then tries to see if she can open one of these doors. It's something... somewhere. [The door opens! Inside you find...] [...something that will be revealed in four days time!] [What happens next? You'll find out at ACen!] [Intro End!]
