The ACen Game 3 Character Generation Rules/House Rules ------------------------------------------------------ Updated 3/7/06 Subject to change. We'll let you know when it does. Character Generation: Trainers and monsters must apply in pairs. Communication and partnership will be an important part of the game, so you're encouraged to discuss things with your partner when creating characters. If you're interested in applying but don't have a partner yet, ask around in #besm. We'll be using Tri-Stat d8. Both original characters and conversions of existing characters will be accepted. It's your choice. Trainsers get 80 CP and 50 SP. Monsters get 100 CP and 0 SP. Use the varying stat costs (Table 2-2 on page 8) for the three primary stats, and use the Multi- Genre skillset for SP costs (Table 4-3a on page 42). (If you're having trouble calculating your stat values, a handy reference table can be found here: http://ciara.sandwich.net/acengame3/stats.txt) Trainer skills cap at 8; monster skills cap at 4. Additionally, monsters aren't expected to take certain skills that wouldn't be appropriate for them, such as biological sciences or physical sciences. Trainers shouldn't have overt supernatural powers, monsters... well, anything goes. Monsters are expected to be combatants. Trainers are not. No more than 8 BP from defects will be allowed. We will award 1-3 CP for a good background (although to get 3 CP, it really has to be a darned good background), and 1 CP for character art. Please note that we will award 3 CP total maximum, so you can get 3 from the background, or 2 from the background and 1 from artwork, but not 4 from a background and artwork. ***** Attribute/Defect/Skill Changes: The following attributes and defects will use the modified dX rules. These can be found at found at http://besm.sandwich.net/dX/ Modified Attributes: Invisibility, Insubstantial/incorporeal, Mind Control, Power Usage, Telepathy, Teleport New Attributes: Appearance (instead of Features - Appearance) New/Modified Defects: Burns Energy, Inept Attack, Inept Defense, Marked, Reoccuring Nightmares Gadgets/Personal Gear costs 1 point/level for four minor items only and no major item, or one major item only and no minors. We're still working out the details of team attacks between trainers and monsters (i.e. trainer shouts encouragement, monster gets attack boost, etc.) We should have them ready soon. ***** The following attributes and skills will not be allowed.
